Summary Draft 1 - Ocean Clean-Up Machine (a)
The number of debris built up in the ocean over the years had become so solid that even humans can walk on it. A man named Boyan Slat had set out a massive clean-up project using his vision of the Ocean clean up machine. He had received criticism and sceptics about the project. His initial design was to repair the seabed using one huge clean up machine measuring 60 miles long. After numerous vetting, the new idea was to split this device into 50 smaller devices of 0.6 miles each to repair the deep layer. It’s better as it allows the remaining machines to still work if one were to malfunction. Not only is this more efficient, building individual device is more cost-saving than a huge clean-up machine. The individual devices require removal via “garbage truck of the oceans” monthly. Boyan Slat future goal is to collect the trashes and to recycle plastics into useful materials.
